Massilia est le nom du paquebot sur lequel Le Corbusier voyagea pour la première fois vers le nouveau monde en 1929.
C'est aujourd'hui celui choisi pour réunir, en une sorte d'annuel voyage de retour, des écrits et travaux divers, hétérogènes par leur provenance mais partageant tous un même objectif et un même style.
L'objectif de Massilia est de chercher à comprendre l'œuvre de Le Corbusier, l'architecte qui, probablement mieux que tout autre, représente la conscience de la nécessité d'être à la hauteur des circonstances de l'époque dans laquelle on est contraint de vivre, conscience qui constitue la condition, le moteur, l'objectif même de l'existence humaine. Voix personnelle d'un climat collectif, chercher à comprendre Le Corbusier signifie en somme chercher à comprendre ce que peut être, ce que devrait tendre à être, tout architecte.
Le style de Massilia est celui d'une analyse où précision, rigueur et minutie veulent être appliquées au regard spécifique d'un métier, l'architecture, loin de l'érudition rhétorique et de la préciosité académique.
Il s'agit d'échapper à la production d'écrits venant d'écrits, et capables seulement de générer d'autres écrits encore, pour arriver à concevoir notre parole comme un pont -solide, discret et simple- menant d'un projet d'architecture à l'autre : des projets de Le Corbusier à tous les projets potentiels à venir.

Massilia was the name of the paquebot in which Le Corbusier travelled for the first time to the New World in 1929.
It is now the name chosen to collect, in a yearly return journey, writings and other pieces of heterogeneous origin, but all sharing the same aim and style.
The aim of Massilia is to try to understand Le Corbusier's work, probably the architect that has best presented individual effort, rising to the occasion, confronting the times that one has to live in, as the condition, incentive and goal of human existence. The style of Massilia is that of someone who practises a craft, architecture, which is clearly different from the rhetorical erudition and the literary floweriness.
We attempt to escape from the production of writings that come from writings and that are unable to produce anything other than writings, and try to use words as the bridge -solid, discreet and simple- that goes from certain architectural projects to other ones, from Le Corbusier's projects to the potential new projects that will spring from their stimulus.
